NBC’s Hannibal had been a brilliant series. It had an intelligent script and some exemplary performances. A much-beloved series, with a cult following, fans were highly disappointed when NBC ended it back in 2015, despite the critical and popular acclaim.
There had been discussions ever since about the revival of the series in OTT platforms, but nothing materialised. But giving us hope is the latest announcement from Netflix, which has decided to stream the first three seasons for binge-watching starting this June. We will have to wait and watch if this would be the first step towards a revival.
About Hannibal, A much loved psycho-thriller
Based on the works of Thomas Harris, Hannibal tells the story of Will Graham, an FBI consultant, who works on murder investigations. The story becomes interesting with the entry of Hannibal Lecter, a psychiatrist who later becomes a friend of Graham. Yeah, you guessed it right! The same Hannibal Lecter of Silence of the Lambs. Lecter, as we know, is a cold blooded murderer.
The series created by Bryan Fuller starred Dancy, Mikkelsen, Caroline Dhavernas, Laurence Fishburne, and Gillian Anderson.
Will there be a season 4? Hannibal
Fans of Hannibal had been demanding a reprisal especially because the last season ended at an ambiguous note. Hopes were ignited when Fuller announced in 2019 that he is not giving up the hope for a season 4.
Fuller also made clear that he would look into the possibilities of continuation from the Silence of the Lamb venture. While in between, CBS announced a sequel series titled Clarice, the FBI agent who appears in Silence of the lambs shattering the hopes for a revival.
But now that Netflix is streaming the series again, and if it receives a good response possibility are there that the show might have a revival. Well, let’s wait and see!
