Edge of Tomorrow (marketed as Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow on home media) is a 2014 American science fiction action film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Contradictory reports have been rumoring around since 2018 however, it may seem as though things are gearing up as the long awaited sequel when Matthew Robinson was hired as a writer in March 2019. But later on the director, Doug Liman confirmed there is no assurance if the movie will actually get made. But on January 2020, a ray of light was seen updating the beginning of the long awaited project however the global pandemic seared up the entire situation, and no updates have been gained since then.

There are doubts about whether there is going to be a season two of Edge of Tomorrow and no confirmation has been updated. So there is an air of uncertainty whether the sequel will be hitting the cinemas. The beginning of 2018 marked with a ray of hope that Liman is working on the next movie. However, he later confirmed that he was going to rewrite the entire script with Jezz Butterworth, who helped with his first movie. On a positive note, Liman confirmed in October 2019 that the script is ready hoping to start the production after Tom Cruise finishes his working on Mission Impossible 7 and 8.

What can we expect from Edge of Tomorrow Season 2?

The first movie’s complexity associated with the witty plot, the original concept for the sequel was one you had to get your head around. Liman spoke about the sequel of the upcoming season will be smaller adding: “I don’t need an action sequence every two minutes”. The first movie ended with Major William Cage defeating  Omega who controls the aliens who died in the process. A news report suggests that all alien activities will be ceased following a mysterious surge in Paris and Cage will probably go to Heathrow to find Sergeant Rita Vrataski.  However, something is certain that Edge of Tomorrow is going to be a sequel that can blow the mind of the viewers with its unexpected plots and sudden twists marking it to be one of the greatest shows of all time.

The expected cast of Edge of Tomorrow Season 2

The cast sequel is expected to be almost similar to the one as before and we can expect to see our favorites:  Brendan Gleeson as General Brigham, Emily Blunt as Sergeant Rita Vrataski, Tom Cruise as Major William Cage, Masayoshi Haneda as Takeda, Andy Reed as a man on the bridge, Jonas Armstrong as Skinner, Madeleine Mantock as Julie, Noah Taylor as Dr. Carter, Dragomir Mrsic as Kuntz, Charlotte Riley as Nance, Franz Drameh as Ford, Tony Way as Kimmel, Kick Gurry as Griff . However, Liman has also been teasing for a new character who will be critical for the sequel as much as Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

The storyline of Edge of Tomorrow Season 2

Earth has fallen under the attack of the vicious hands of inevitable aliens, while no military unit across the world has been able to beat them. Major William cage has therefore been assigned to a suicide mission who gets killed in the process. The movie ends with Rita and Cage diving head first toward their own deaths as they attempt to destroy the Omega, particularly as it relates to reset the day. Having Cage lose the ability to reset the day due to blood transfusion, both of them know that there is no way they can walk away from this. In the middle of this dire catastrophe, the movie shows the struggle for the habitat of the humankind in the earth with that of the gaining authority of the malicious aliens. Blended into a perfect frictional adventure the Edge of Tomorrow has been greatly admired by the masses.
